CHRIS BOULTON

PHOTOGRAPHER / DIRECTOR

“Don't think. FEEL. It's like a finger pointing at the moon. Do not concentrate on the finger, or you will miss all of the heavenly glory.”

Bruce Lee

Whether you’re a fan of martial arts or not, I think Bruce’s words are the perfect analogy for creating a photograph. Don’t spend too much time looking at the obvious when all of the really interesting stuff is happening in the periphery.

So, you’ve found me! Here’s a little bit about what I do.

I’m a British photographer and more recently a film maker and director. I specialise in lifestyle, documentary and travel photography.

I move between the realms of brand work and in-depth human storytelling narratives.

I could only do two things when I left school, play football, and take photographs. The football didn’t happen, I fell off my bicycle when I was 16 and it scuppered my dreams of international stardom and maybe it was meant to be because photography was always in my soul. After years of drifting and chasing careers that other people thought I should, I finally came back to exactly where I’m meant to be, with a camera in my hand.

I’m a creative and often produce the ideas and concepts for my photo shoots and short films but equally work with the direction of brands and agencies. I‘m a fan of collaboration and clients say I’m easy to work with. I will always push for ‘the shot’.

Photography occupies most of my waking moments. I have a passion for creating cinematic, storytelling images that people can relate to or see something of themselves in. I’m drawn to the underdog and those who live slightly outside the lines.

Everything good seems to come from chance encounters, or local knowledge. I’m fascinated by landscapes and our connection to them.

Clients include:

English Heritage, Poppy Scotland, Greenpeace, Landrover, Blundstone Boots, AUDI, Peregrine, British Vintage Boxing, The Fisherman’s Mission, FUJIFILM, Nathan Outlaw, Canva

Brands, more than ever, are seeking authenticity with messages that are real, relatable and engaging - this is where I can help.

I shoot for a variety of clients and have created imagery for start-ups through to international brands and organisations, charities and NGO’s. I use places and faces to storytell and give my commissions life.

“It’s photography with soul - well that’s how I describe your work to others. It goes in the face of soulless stock imagery”
